CHAPTER IV: DO I LOOK ALRIGHT?

Jake that morning had gotten up unusually early and had spent an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom getting ready for the day. He dismissed the notion that it was because he wanted to look 'just so' for Dylan, but in the back of his mind, there lay...

a suspicion perhaps...

He ran out to the front when he heard the horn, and threw himself into the passenger seat of a friends car...Jimmy Lee Weller.

"Hey," Jimmy hollered even though Jake was sitting next to him, but Jimmy always hollered. Sorta like that commercial on tv with the black guy Kevin hollering at his neighbors. "It's what I do," he said and yeh, I guess.

"Hey," Jake hollered back...amused by the notion of he and Jimmy screaming back and forth.

Jimmy Lee was a ginger boy to die for, and they had been good friends since kindergarten. He lived a couple miles down the highway beyond Jake and they had spent a lot of time as kids hanging out. Riding their bikes and jogging and walks in the nearby woods and playing with their pets and toys. Nothing had ever transpired even though Jimmy was not only the class clown/buffoon but a total hottie to boot. Tall as fuck, slender to the max, and cute as a bugs ear...if you are into that 'cute bug' sort of thing. He had never seemed interested in being a couple with anyone...and people wondered but nobody had ever had the guts to ask him why. God knows he has always been cute enough. But Jimmy could be more than a bit intimidating when it comes to the personal stuff...but he and Jake had always hit it off and so it went.

"So, how come you aren't riding with the hunkus du jour this morning," Jimmy queried and Jake just looked at him.

"Oh come on. Don't play coy with me, buster. I know you too well. You held hands all the way to his car yesterday and left together."

"Just being friendly is all, and as you well know my car was in the dealership for service."

"Yeh yeh,"

but Jake refused to admit to anything else and Jimmy for once didn't press his old friend. When they pulled up at the back of the high school, there was Dylan patiently waiting for Jake. Jimmy snorted but went on by Dylan with only a cursory 'HI' and that was that.

"I am sorry. I should have offered to pick you up, babes," Dylan apologized and Jake said it was ok and they moved on into the school but Dylan didn't take Jake's hand this time and Jake almost wished he had. All of a sudden he realized that he had really wanted Dylan to hold his hand...and that virtually threw him for a loop. 'What is going on here', he thought to himself. Good God, wanting a guy to hold my hand in broad daylight in front of all my friends and teachers and the general public and all. 'GEEZ,' but then they got to homeroom and the day began and that was that for now.

Dylan it would seem had quickly changed some of his courses and now he and Jake were taking many of the same ones at the same time. They went on into the classroom and Dylan pulled out Jake's chair for him and again, Jake almost swooned...but said nothing but a quiet "Thanks," and "Hey," Dylan responded as several of their classmates observed and noted and filed that away in their beady little brains. "Ah, new hottie on the block and our buddy Jake...hmmm," and they quietly got all atwitter. Lol.

The day came and went with astounding speed, and then Dylan took Jake to pick up his car at the dealership and after making sure all was well followed Jake to his house. Pattern forming it might appear.

After going on up to Jake's bedroom, Jake stepped into the bathroom leaving Dylan laying on the bed (their bed?) watching TV, and he quietly stood in front of the mirror.

"Do I look alright?" he wondered. He scanned himself from head to toe, and thought about changing clothes but then thought not...just as Dylan came into the bathroom...coming up behind Jake and putting his arms around him.

"Don't worry babes, you look almost good enough to eat right up," Dylan said quietly into Jake's ear and Jake damn near fainted again. Yep, habit forming.

"Thanks," Jake said just as quietly and then they moved back into the bedroom and laid on Jake's bed.

"This is good," Dylan said again really quietly...and Jake nodded assent.

"I brought my homework with me this time," Dylan said softly into Jake's ear which pretty much told Jake this was gonna be unlike the night before. Sounded like Dylan intended to stay the night, and...

About 6:15, Ann called up for the boys to come downstairs for dinner which they did and it was a cordial dinner, and delicious as usual...which Dylan made sure he mentioned more than once and Jake concurred. Ultimately so did Jake's dad, Rick.

After dinner they carried their dishes to the kitchen and then Ann shooed them off to go upstairs.

The evening was spent mostly doing homework and watching TV and idle chitchat. Then when they finished their homework, Jake suddenly got a bit nervous. What was he supposed to do now. Ask Dylan to stay, or not? He had no clue but then Dylan said...

"Babes, homework is done and I can either go home or stay. Up to you, baby."

"Jake had a moment of panic but then looked Dylan in the eye and said..."No, please stay," and Dylan did just that. Jake and he were both tired and so whatever plans either of them had had went bye as they both fell asleep fairly quickly. Jake woke up briefly in the middle of the night to find Dylan pressed hard against him from behind (both were naked) and obviously aroused but sound asleep. Jake told himself he shouldn't like the feeling he had right about then but knew he did and then he fell back asleep. The next morning came far too soon, with Dylan running down to his car to get a change of clothes and after a minimal breakfast and getting their stuff together left in Dylan's car for school. There were a lot of kids out back as they pulled up and parked and all of them saw them coming to school together. "Oh God, my goose is cooked now," but after running around and opening Jake's door, they walked up to the doors and entered without saying a word, and this time hand in hand. Jake was about giddy but didn't let it show, or barely.
